Dreaming of throwing a big honking successful conference with lots of amazing speakers, sponsors and attendees? Whether this is your first conference or event or you are a seasoned professional – here is a tip that will make you, your team and your clients happy, satisfied and screaming for more.
Schedule downtime like a pro. Make sure you not only schedule plenty of downtime at the conference but make it the right kind of downtime. Just like professional athletes, normal people need time to digest, rest and check email. Networking and resting are two very different things and they should be treated as such. Make sure you designate time for both. People will appreciate knowing when they can sneak in a power nap, call home or get work done at the conference without missing an opportunity to network.
Every 1.5 hours there should be a serious break in the programming. The break should be at least 30 mins, then 1 hour, or 1.5hrs. The idea is you are never in a room for more than 1.5 hrs before a significant change of space (both mental and physical)” -Dr. David Rock
- Networking time
- Resting time
Your attendees will be more knowledgable, well rested and grateful.
